I LOVED this book. It was brilliant - funny, touching, entertaining, wonderful characters, well developed and the story was silly enough to be plausible. I thought that the author was so true to who Don was - his interactions, his thoughts, his actions - bang on. Rosie was the perfect balance to him - and you saw that she understood and appreciated him from the get-go - which to me is what made this story work. The author showed a sensitive relationship and wrote a lovely story.
"Barracuda is a compelling story which pulled me in and kept me there – the 500 pages flew past. I cared about Dan precisely because he is flawed and messed up. But there’s nothing saccharine or feel-good about this tale of redemption and self-discovery. There were several heart-in-mouth moments where I willed him not to be such a raging idiot, and many heart-spearing episodes, such as when he’s watching the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics."
