Padmanabhapuram palace is the original home of the kings of Travancore who ruled central and south Kerala. Though this palace complex is located in Tamil Nadu, it is the epitome of traditional Kerala architecture.
16th century Padmanabhapuram palace was once the home of the Travancore (South Kerala) royal family. The palace is built in the traditional Kerala style with lots of intricate woodwork, shuttered windows, murals and wall paintings. It is now located in Tamil Nadu but is still maintained by the Kerala government.
