An extremely rare Elizabeth I silk purse richly embroidered on both sides with the rose of England in gold and silver thread and with seed pearls and spangles.

An extremely rare Elizabeth I silk purse richly embroidered on both sides with the rose of England in gold and silver thread and with seed pearls and spangles.

Sapphire seal with the arms of Knyvett, made in England, c.1580 (source). The seal most likely belonged to Sir Thomas Knyvett the younger, who was knighted in 1579/80 when he was made High Sheriff of Norfolk. Sir Thomas was also married to the daughter of Queen Elizabeth I’s Treasurer of the Household.
