The root of all dharma practices is generating the Bodhichitta. ‘Bodhi’ means awakening or awakened and ‘chitta’ means heart. Bodhichitta, therefore, means the heart of the awakened mind. The awakened mind thinks for the benefit of all sentient beings. If we think of doing something good only for our families and friends and want to create obstacles for someone we don’t like, then we cannot become Bodhichitta.
