With the increasing sophistication of Soviet air defence (particularly missile technology) the idea of a high altitude attack on the Soviet Union was abandon for low level attack. The V bombers lost their anti flash white for low camouflage. While the camouflage patten never looked effective over Britain, as it was designed to make the aircraft difficult to see high while flying over snow covered Eastern Europe.
