1900- Present - 12 Portraits that inspire you - Name style (guess if not listed) - 2+ principles and elements that they use and you like
Nikola Tesla (1856- 1943) - Painterly is used because of the noticeable brush strokes - I like the dark colors, it shows Tesla's mad scientist side - I like how electricity and engineering is incorporated into the painting, it showcases his personality and accomplishments
John Lennon (1940-1980) - Pop art or expressionism is used - I like how it's saturated, the colors give off a psychedelic feel, which matches Lennon's lifestyle/personality - I like how the symbols used in the portrait also showcase Lennon as a person, such as the guitar for his music career, and a peace sign for his advocation of peace and love
- Surrealism is used - I like the use of purples, lavenders, violates, blues, etc. - I love the dreamlike/fairytale vibe given by the girls's wings, the rainbow passing through her, butterflies coming off of her head, and the castle in the background
- Pop art of KFC logo - I like how there are four copies of the same image in different colors - I like the bright neon colors
Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962) - Pop art, black and white except for the red lips - Could be painted or a real photograph edited - I like how the portrait is done in black and white because it shows off Monroe's beautiful and alluring facial structure - I like the use of selective desaturation because it brings out the lips, making them a bold and striking red
Madonna (1958- present day) - Realism is used - I like how detailed every aspect of her face is and how real it looks; she seems so alive that she could jump off of the canvas - I like the use of one color (tannish-yellow) with shading and different highlights and lowlights
Self-Portrait Under the Lime Trees - Surrealism is used - I love the idea of putting a face in between two trees - I also thought using a person as the nose who is painting the eyes (which are portrayed as little houses/huts) was a really good idea. It represents it's a self-portrait
- Surrealism is used - I like the bright and joyful colors used - I like the symbolism of the young girl's childhood and lighthearted pleasure by a lollipop, roses, hot air balloons, and a fair
Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970) - Made out of 5,000 guitar picks by artist Ed Chapman - Mosaic is used - I like the idea of using guitar picks to incorporate Hendrix's music career into the portrait - I like how simple the layout is, yet it's still distinguishable
Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962) - This portrait is realism - I like how the colors are dark and faded and vintage-like - The nudity, red lips, and a cigarette showcase Monroe's carefree attitude and seductive appeal
