Sanchi Stupa, India: This one is the oldest structure of stone in India and was originally commissioned in the 3rd Cetury BCE by Ashoka the great. It was crowned by the Chatra which is shaped like a parasol showing that it was of high rank. This structure was supervised by Ashoka’s first wife the empress Vidisha Devi personally.
