I think this is a depiction of Rama and Sita. Sita was kidnapped by a demon king, Ravana who tried to seduce her but she refused him. Rama rescued Sita but he's a flawed hero because he questioned his wife's fidelity twice and after the second time she left him.
Lord Chaitanya says: I do not know anyone but Krsna as my Lord, and He shall always remain as such, even if He handles me roughly by His embrace, or He may make me broken hearted by not being present before me. Still He is completely free to do anything and everything, for He will always remain my worshipful Lord, unconditionally. (Siksastaka 8)
