Two generations of English Electric diesel traction seen at Doncaster Works on 31st May 1982, but there for very different reasons. 50034 (ex D434) 'Furious' will shortly be completely refurbished, whilst 55007 (ex D9007) 'Pinza' has already run it's last race and sadly the Deltic was cut up that August. Furious was eventually consigned to history eight years later. It is very sad that everything in this picture (except maybe the trees) has now disappeared forever.
47709 (ex D1942, 47499) 'Dionysos' at Crewe Works on 31st May 2003. Built at Brush Traction, Loughborough and delivered on 16th June 1966. Named 'The Lord Provost' on 30th Sept 1979 to Nov 1990, then 'Dionysos' on 1st Aug 2001. Withdrawn on 31st Aug 2012 and cut up by Raxstar Ltd at Eastleigh depot in Sept 2012. (P.Wormstone)
