8th grade POP Art sculptures (inspired by Claes Oldenburg). Students had to pick an everyday object and enlarge it at least 25x it's normal size. (constructed from cardboard, tape, paint, paper mâché ,etc)

In this ceramics project, eighth graders used various sculpting techniques to create these mouthwatering sculptures of their favorite foods. Students were challenged to create an interesting arrangement on their plates by overlapping items and to add realistic details in clay and with glaze. As you can imagine, this display is causing quite a stir around here and all the younger students are asking, "Is that food REAL!?!"

This year, a Calvert School alumnus from the class of 1935 generously made provisions in his will to leave his personal art collection to Calvert as a legacy gift. This impressive art collection features more than 20 paintings (mostly landscapes) from leading Maryland artists, and it is his desire that his art be used by Calvert as a teaching collection.
