What To Do When Your Child's Diagnosed With Type 1 Diabetes (via Parents.com)

Managing type 1 diabetes requires a commitment, and that can be overwhelming. But it does get easier, and there is lots of help available.

All types of diabetes are treatable. Diabetes type 1 lasts a lifetime, there is no known cure. Type 2 usually lasts a lifetime, however, some people have managed, through a lot of exercise, diet and excellent body weight control to get rid of their symptoms without medication. #diabetes

It's upsetting for those with Type 1 Diabetes when people believe Type 1 is no worse than having Type 2 Diabetes. The truth is that with Type 1, the pancreas DOES NOT work and DOES NOT produce any insulin at all... so those with Type 1 have to depend on shots or an insulin pump to dispense the insulin THEIR BODY NEEDS IN ORDER TO STAY ALIVE! There is a difference.

This bothers me so much. I hate when "diabetes" is used like all are the same. Type 1 is WAY different than Type 2 and you cannot join them with just saying "diabetes". There is a HUGE difference.
