Sight Word Activity: Pirate Doubloons Treasure Hunt

“Unless it has been in the hand ..and the body…it cannot be in the brain” (Bev Bos). Here is a wonderful way to incorporate memorising sight words (or you could use letters/numbers for those at earlier stages) into imaginative play.

Older Nursery - a shape hunt. Sort through the shredded paper to find and identify the 2D shapes.

Sand and Water Tables: Boxes in Boxes. I love this idea for sand because it creates a 3D experience that children can explore for an open ended experience when using a sand table. By reaching into boxes and poking heads in and around boxes, this creates an ultimate experience with sand by looking over and under boxes. This is also great for children's imaginations - they can even bring props into this sand table to create a story.

EYFS DINOSAUR TOPIC: Children can help to "hatch open" the dinosaur egg using salt and tools, revealing small dino toys. Made by simply putting toy inside balloon, fill with water, freeze overnight then cut balloon away.

Always good to find something different to do with a Tuff Spot. Great for motor skills and also talking about textures and materials. (missamyp)
