Baba Deep Singh ji at an old age led 5000 sikhs to defend Golden Temple, Harimandir Sahib from the Afghani assault. Him and his entire army were sacrificed however Baba Deep Singh ji fought all the way. His head was cut off in battle and he picked it up and with any remaining energy he continued fighting till he dropped after reaching the parikarma of the Golden Temple, Harimandir Sahib.

Guru Gobind Singh ji's two sons were brutally killed by the cruel Wazir Khan. Several years later, when Banda Singh Bahadur heard of this act, he sought out to punish the Nawab of Sirhind.
