When I found out about the Delhi gang-rape last year I made a promise to the brave-heart Jyoti and a pledge unto myself: I write to you today because we need your support to fully realize the goals of this pledge. This is our chance to tell every woman, "You are NOT alone". We have been complacent for too long and the time to end sexual violence is, and always is, NOW. Jurrat is an an effort to live up to this pledge to end our silence and fight our complacency.

Human rights are universal, but access to claiming these rights unfortunately is not. Women face barriers in realizing their rights, and experience distinct types of rights violations, specifically because they are women.

How many of us have grown up seeing women around us in abusive marriages? They are beaten up, they are belittled every moment of their lives and yet they never raise their voice. All because they believe it's justified! Because they don't know there is a way out. This has to change. Women need to know their rights! Only 24 hours before the campaign gets over!
