NTK Art- During the early eighteenth century there was another extremely popular style of architecture called baroque. Baroque style stressed grandeur and power. Architects could combine different styles like traditional, classical, or any other style and use it on a large scale like Versailles or the Church of the Fourteen Saints.

NTK Enlightenment part 2: The Age of Enlightenment refers to the 18th century in European philosophy, and is often thought of as part of a larger period which includes the Age of Reason. The term also more specifically refers to a historical intellectual movement, "The Enlightenment." This movement advocated rationality as a means to establish an authoritative system of ethics, aesthetics, and knowledge.

NTK Enlightenment- This painting is of Denis Diderot, a French philosopher and writer. In Diderot's Encyclopedia he says "The good of the people must be the great purpose of government... And the greatest good of the people is liberty." Many philosophers at the time believed in religious toleration, freedom of speech and of the press and the rights to private property. Above all the philosophers believed that enlightened rulers must obey the laws and enforce them fairly for all subjects.

Baroque music the Baroque is the earliest period in European music whose music is still widely heard. Handel and Bach were two major artists in this genre. Handel was German who spent most of his days in England and is most highly recognized because of his religious pieces. Bach was a well known organist and the music director for the Church of Saint Thomas. His work gave him the reputation of one of the greatest composers of all time

Baroque, a term originally applied to the art and architecture of the time, means overly elaborate or ornate. Thesis Enlightenment and art- During the time of Enlightenment people started to believe in Deism(Deism was the belief in a creator who does not intervene in the universe). Before the Enlightenment art was strictly religious and very serious. Like a painting of Adam and Eve. Art changed during the Enlightenment because now it was very graceful and charming. Art could also be anything like a picnic or women and men dancing.

This is the pilgrimage to cythera by a famous rococo artist Watteau. I really like the colours in this painting especially the top left with the little Cupid flying around.

He gave his 1st harpsichord concert at age 6 and wrote his 1st opera at just 12. He was a very passionate Music writer and wrote some of the world's greatest operas.
