Burnbake Campsite

Burnbake Campsite, Dorset. Natural camping at its best. Relaxed woodland camping where the kids can truly run free. Rope swings, stuff to climb on, a stream to jump or swing across and fall in, woods to explore and open fires definitely allowed. You'll get a warm welcome and a warm shower if you're lucky, But that's a small price to pay for a piece of heaven.

Warner Farm Touring Park

Warner Farm Camping at Bunn Leisure, Selsey, West Sussex. A great choice if you fancy family entertainment day and night. There's no time to relax here, with a decent swimming pool, kids clubs, arcades and evening entertainment. If you feel like entertaining yourself for a bit, there's a large field for football and kite flying, plus parks and the purpose built £17m beach. The site is huge - so there's a free bus to get you from your tent to the entertainment centre!

Old McDonalds Farm

Old MacDonalds Farm, near Padstow, Cornwall. A farm park with pony rides, tractors, a miniature train, trampolines, climbing frames and animals to feed. The campsite is right next to the farm park and has decent showers, flat pitches and affable owners. You get free entry into the farm park if you're camping, so it's a great place to base yourselves in Cornwall if you've got kids under 10.

Keswick Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Keswick Camping and Caravanning Club Site, Lake District. A brilliant location on the shore of Derwentwater. You can launch your boat directly from the campsite, plus the lovely town of Keswick is only a few minutes walk from the site. Add to this easy access to the surrounding fells and you've got an ideal base for an active outdoor holiday. The showers aren't great and the site is prone to flooding, but the location is great. Books up very early.

Little Roadway Farm

Little Roadway Farm, Woolacombe. At the top of the hill behind the beach, with distant sea views. If you're keen you can walk the 3/4 mile to the beach - it's (very) downhill all the way. Taxis are popular on the way back! It's a great site for families - there's a decent wood play structure in the middle of the family camping field, plus farm animals to visit, decent showers and a shop selling a good range of food and camping bits. Exposed site in poor weather.
