Mulato chillies are grown predominantly in Jalisco and Puebla regions of Mexico and very closely resemble Ancho Poblanos - however they are darker and have a more intense fruity flavour. They are used with Ancho Poblano and Pasilla in the Mexican national dish, Mole. Use as a main ingredient in Mole sauce. Can be used in conjunction with or as an alternative to Ancho Poblano chillies. Add to your cooking for gentle heat and a great flavour kick.
