Learning Shapes With Toy Cars

The manipulative for this weeks is small toys. I couldn't resist making a play activity based on Adam's favourite small toy of all time - the toy car! we have very few shape adventures I decided to create a Learning Shapes With Toy Cars activity.

Made my own blending line for my reception class today... They were very intrigued and hopefully it will encourage them to think about the sounds that make up words :)

Blending line - Teaching and practising blending for reading VC and CVC words and segmenting for spelling.

We have recently sorted our provision in the water tray to ensure a focus on #finemotorskills primary over than #grossmotorskills, so we enhanced the water tray by adding a washing line. There was barely space to wash the clothes in the end as everyone wanted to join in. As well as wringing the clothes of water and in turn developing gross motor skills they also developed their fine motor skills by squeezing open the pegs! Also lots of fun!

Balancing Pompoms on Pool Noodles. The pupil uses a tweezers to pick up each small pompom and then they balance each one on a hole in the 'noodle'. It is easily made with cut slices from a polystyrene pool noodle and some pompoms and some tweezers.
