"A Way Out" - 36" x 36", Oil on Canvas. Inspired by my story from a dark and painful period of my life, hopeless with seemingly no way out. I found hope by through a recovery program, God and some beautiful people. While fear can set in on any of us, at anytime, there is always a way out and it begins with surrendering and asking for help. The deep reds represent the fear, pain or darkness. The large, textured white brushstroke at the top left represents the hope, surrender - the way out.

"Look Within" It takes courage to change, humility to accept help from others and admit defeat. It takes courage to be willing to go beyond the surface and face your fears, flaws and pain. "A Tale Of Little Boy Blue And His OCD" A conceptual self-portrait of sorts. I was always the "little boy" in my family and as I grew up, this image stuck with me. At a young age, my mental health issues were present, but they did not manifest themselves until a later age. My anxiety and OCD cause me the most difficulty today so this painting is a way for me to express my feelings about the "little boy" who grew up and found himself in deep trouble with addiction and mental health issues.

Title: "The Battle Within" Original abstract expressionism oil painting. The silver and blue clean lines and shapes represent order, neatness, control. The reds, yellows and oranges represent a more warm, fluid and flexible mindset. Together, it captures the ebb and flow (or struggle) of life - the fleeting satisfaction of control and order, juxtaposed with the more meaningful satisfaction of letting go and participating in the reality of life.

Title: "Lost & Found" Multi-paneled Diptych Original oil & acrylic painting - abstract expressionism and symbolism. An idea of lost and found is captured with the footsteps and the "dark" to "light" color scheme. We can all lose our way sometimes (darkness), but change is possible and we can return home and come back into the light.

"The Spirit Within" Original abstract expressionism oil painting. Inspired by my own personal experience from a life of internal strife, and darkness to an awakening of my spirit and self-discovery. We all have that "quintessential spirit within", that spark of life. No matter how hard or dark things become, that spirit is always there and we can fan it back to life through God, others, spirituality, etc.

TITLE: "Spark Of Life", 12" x 24", Oil on Canvas Original abstract expressionism oil painting. The thin, soft stroke of bright orange among the interwoven blue lines represents the quintessential spirit or spark of life that we all have. Even in our darkest times, that spirit or spark is there no matter how empty or hopeless we can feel. There's always a way out - get in touch with something greater than you and nourish that spark back to life.

TITLE: "Perspective", 36" x 48", Oil on Canvas Original abstract expressionism oil painting. This large, vibrant piece is intended to evoke the idea of "perspective." A quick reminder of the darkness of addiction and where I came from, puts all my troubles and issues in their proper place. A shift in perspective - from family, friends, spirituality, experiences - results in some serenity and gratitude, a gift that must be shared.

Title: "Picking Up The Pieces" Original abstract expressionism oil painting. This piece is a conceptual self-portrait. Having lost my way in the darkness of addiction as well as an emotional breakdown, I eventually was able to pick up the pieces and put my life back together. The large brushstrokes are used to emphasize the idea of "pieces" or "broken elements" of something that once was complete and can come back together.

Original Abstract Expressionism Oil Painting TITLE: "Joy Is In The Journey" Life - It is a journey, as the expression goes. This piece is my personal, abstract expression of the ups and downs, twists and turns, joy and pain that we all experience in life. Whether we experience trauma, loss, emotional pain, spiritual bottoms, mental or physical illness, we all want to heal, recover, grow and change. There is true joy in that journey.

With two abstract eye forms combined with many layers of Dioxazine Purple and Titanium White, a lot of blending and precise line work, this piece represents the "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" expression and is titled appropriately - "Eye of the Beholder."
