Chimera Cat Linocut Print

Following our other mini cat print, I wanted to show the process of creating this little print. This is a chimera cat, or a half-coloured face cat, where there are two genetically distinct cats in one body. The process: I use Indian ink to stain traditional battleship grey lino so there is more contrast when carving. I transfer my mini design using tracing paper, pencil (graphite), and a bone folder. I’m teaching at a studio next weekend and taking my little craft presses - these are xcuts and they are die cutting machines - but there are many other brands that can be repurposed as printing presses - The long extended bad is made by Handprinted and lent itself perfectly to making a long talk heron collagraph.
