COFFEE TABLE UPDATE: Idea from an earlier pin...sand old wood furniture, do first coat of stain (following stain directions), lay lace on DRY stain and spray paint over the top (I used a metallic paint "Nickel" to give it some shine) then do the second coat of stain over the spray paint after it is dry. Don't forget to WIPE OFF stain after it has sat for a few minutes...restaining over a light color spray paint will make everything coordinate to the same color palette, clear coat and done!
Transform a dresser with paint and wallpaper. Chic taupe paint and toile wallpaper highlight this dresser's traditional lines. Play with the position of the wallpaper until you're happy with the design, and then cut the paper to fit the drawer fronts. After painting the dresser, apply the wallpaper; protect it and the painted surfaces with an acrylic sealer.
