Nikki Nyman. editor of Antique Home Style, one of our favorite web sites, found and photographed this original 1930 kitchen during a home tour in Connecticut. According to her notes, the house, built in 1909, received a kitchen makeover in 1930, and still has that 1930 kitchen. The range is a restored vintage Hotpoint.
1930s kitchen. These are the original 1939 octagon ceramic tiles. They are a butter yellow color. i removed broken tiles and relocated them closest to wall. That made them less noticeable. I cannot find anything close to their buttery color. I re-grouted all of the tiles. It took me several hours to chip out broken grout around many of the octagon tiles. I am determined to keep the kitchen original.
