In the Art Room - Tigers
The first graders learned how to draw a simple tiger. We looked at how easy it would be to turn our tiger into a number of different animals just by changing small details. We added green and pink tissue paper to make our tigers look like they were hiding in the jungle!

2nd grade artists have been learning about the life and work of the artist Henri Matisse. He loved the jungle, even though he was never able to visit one in his lifetime, and drew many jungle animals. We drew animals like giraffes, lions, tigers, birds etc. and used blending in our painting techniques, showed we understood the art element of space by overlapping our leaves and animals, and also chose different values of leaves to create variety in our artworks. Art History: Henri Rousseau Jungle Collage
We studied the artist, Henri Rousseau, last month for Art in the Schools. The lesson I designed for the school (grades Kindergarten - 6th grade) involved creating a cut paper Jungle Animals and Plants collage inspired by his beautiful paintings. We used construction paper, marker, and recycled Wrapping Paper scraps (from our fall school fundraiser project.) We also just had a school-wide display/exhibit of some of the Art in the Schools projects from the past two months. I love the way this…
Children's collaborative art work based on 'Rousseau's' - Jungle Paintings. They children painted the plants and flowers using his work as inspiration. They painted the animals separately and they were added to work at the end.
