Dr Rainer Gruessner, during his long medical career, has been in surgical leadership positions for sixteen years, either as chair or vice-chair. That includes his time at the University of Minnesota, where his roles included being Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery, Director of the Intestinal Transplant Program, Co-Director of the Pancreas Transplant Program, and a tenured Professor of Surgery.
