When you're looking to start a capsule wardrobe, I recommend going to one store. Look for solids. Start with blacks, whites, grays. Get at least one long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, blue jeans, black pants. A couple jackets, a couple blazers. Heels and flats. Make sure everything can be worn with everything.
