WHAT IS SIDDHASANA ?
The name "Burmese position" refers to its origins in Thailand, where it was developed by Gurkha soldiers in the 1880s who wanted a posture that would not put pressure on their lower backs. It is also known as Ardha Siddhasana and Asvini Mudra. The name Muktasana (Sanskrit: मुक्तासन) refers to freedom from all tensions. This is why this asana is considered supremely important for liberation because when one achieves such freedom he becomes liberated from the bonds of time, place and person.
