Charles Rennie Mackintosh was an architect, water colourist and artist born in Glasgow in 1868 and died in represented art nouveau in the UK. In this design he takes influence from the organic, colourful work that surrounds him.
Gloria Bog, John O'Grady - I've been reading John McGahern's novels and short stories. I have never seen Gloria Bog but the power and beauty of his writing brought it to life: I close my eyes and can see it but more importantly I feel it.
Irving Penn - Iceland Poppy/Papaver nudicaule (F), New York, 2006 I chose this piece as I like the dark and muted colours within the flowers. I also like that the flowers are wilted as it provides great depth to the image.
