New Delhi: In a major setback to the Kingfisher Airlines, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has summoned its CEO Sanjay Aggarwal, as the airline continues to cancel flights for the third consecutive day. Clearing the air of speculation of a bailout package for the beleaguered airline, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said “It is upto the banks to decide on providing loans to Kingfisher.”

Kingfisher Airlines, which days ago emerged out of an impasse over salary payment to its staff, is likely to face more trouble soon with the Revenue Department deciding to move the Supreme Court to expedite recovery of about Rs. 330 crore dues. The department's decision to move a Special Leave Petition comes in the backdrop of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The Revenue Department is working on a comprehensive plan to recover tax dues from debt-ridden Kingfisher Airlines (KFA), which owes more than Rs. 200 crore to the exchequer, a top Finance Ministry official said today. "As a matter of fact both Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) have quantified the amount which Kingfisher owe to the government and we will be making out comprehensive plan to recover tax dues,"
The Kingfisher Airlines management has made an offer that at least some employees are willing to consider. It has said it will pay three months' salary, in a wobbling manner before Diwali, and the offer has reportedly split the protesting staff of the airline, some of whom, mostly pilots, say that it’s reasonable and that they are ready to come back to work.

The wife of an employee of the troubled Kingfisher Airlines committed suicide around 1:30 this afternoon. The suicide note found in her south-west Delhi home said that her husband had not been paid for the last six months. She is also understood to be battling depression. She was found hanging from the ceiling by her neighbours and rushed to a local hospital, but didn't survive.
