As frustrating as it can be, we have to persevere to educate people about invisible chronic illness, including teaching children to not assume they know what someone else's experience is, and that things which cannot easily be seen does not mean they are not real. All must assist in changing perceptions of what chronic pain/illness is and the unseen ways in which they can be mildly to extremely disabling. Empathy needs to be fostered as well, not just clinical understanding of chronic pain.
