A 19th century beam engine, manufactured in 1817 by Matthew Boulton and James Watt's company, that is now preserved on a traffic island on the A38M Aston Expressway on the approach to Birmingham city centre.

The electroplating works of Thomas Wilkinson and Sons. Electroplating was invented in Birmingham and TW (established in the 1830s) was amongst the first companies set up to grab a share of this new business. The Italian palazzo-style building dates from 1868 and the business continued there for around 70 years. The actual factory was behind the grand frontage and extended quite a way down Hockley Street.
