Mayflower Compact
One of the earliest government documents in what would become the United States over 150 years later. This plaque is a part of the Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown, Massachusetts and is the site where the compact was written and signed. Many prominent (and not so prominent) Americans trace their ancestry to the folks on the Mayflower. My grandparents came over on a much later, less noted and far more seaworthy ship.
