Goddess Durga is the powerful Shakti, the Mahishasura Mardhini (the one who slayed the fearful demon, Mahisha). She is seated on a ferocious tiger and manifests Herself to wipe out evil from the face of the earth. Vishnu and Durga share a deep bond, with the latter considering Her as His younger sister.
