The much loved Tony Hart (1925 – 2009) was an English artist and children's television presenter. He was an officer in a Gurkha regiment but became famous for being a children's presenter and artist on television shows such as Vision On, Playbox, Take Hart and Hartbeat, often accompanied by Morph. He also created the Blue Peter ship logo.
“It was so lovely to see them together,” one of the Queen Mother’s ladies-in-waiting once told me. “He would arrive at a picnic at Balmoral and say to her, ‘Oh, Your Majesty, I’m graciously honoured to see you!’ and she would reply, ‘Would it please Your Royal Highness to have a drink?’ Then he would kiss her all the way up her arms! If the Queen Mother had asked him to swim the Channel, he would have done it.”
