During WWI women were employed in jobs left vacant by men fighting on the front. This photograph was taken for J Lyons and Co. who purchased Cadby Hall, a former piano showroom  in 1894. They occupied the site until the 1980s producing a wide range of foodstuffs. Date: Jul 1918 Photographer: Adolphe Augustus Boucher, Bedford Lemere and Company
