Scanned image of Madeleine Vionnet "Evening dress" 1927. Featured in "The Collection of the Kyoto costume Institute", published by Taschen. Photo by Takashi Hatakeyama. I chose this dress because apart from having the typical silhouette of the 20's, it brings a new dimension: how a cultural event influences fashion. The discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb in 1922 was a great source of inspiration for designers. Exoticism was introduced in this design by the use of an Egyptian geometric pattern.
