As a professional sleep coach, I hear the term “regression” used in regards to just about every imaginable circumstance. Essentially, if baby doesn’t sleep well for a couple of nights, parents start dropping the ‘R’ word. Some people subscribe to the idea that there’s an eight month regression, a 9 month regression, a 1 year regression, as well as teething regressions, growth spurt regressions, and so on. Others see these as simple hiccups caused by extenuating circumstances.
8-Month Sleep Regression: Top Two Reasons and Remedies
Whenever you hear 8 month sleep regression, think growth and distraction. Your baby is growing physically by getting teeth, or neurologically by learning a new skill or concept. This is what is distracting your child from sleep. It doesn’t mean they can’t sleep, it means they might be distracted and have a harder time falling or staying asleep.

The 4 Month Sleep Regression
Happening around 3-4 months, this is the first of the sleep regressions and is often times the hardest one for parents.
