Acres upon acres of abandoned steel mills have attracted me since I have moved to the Lehigh Valley PA. Until Saturday, I could only view the ruins from the outside. Access was granted to about 24 photographers. Some buildings date back to the origin of the mills - 140 years. The feeling was being in man made caverns which imitated nature in some strange ways. This factory operated in Versailles Township from 1906 till its demise in 1979, making cast molten metal products. It's location on 13 acres near river and railroad traffic made it a dynamic part of the local economy. I've been working on this project for some time now. It frequently gets put on the back burner but lately, I have been inspired to work on it. Please feel free to ask any questions or offer any suggestions. There is much to know about making steel and iron and I am by no means an expert so please chime in!
