A while back I shared a reference sheet for students learning how to divide polynomials using synthetic division. We focus on this method in our Algebra 2 class, but because polynomial long division is in the standards, I thought to also make a reference sheet to help students with this method. #polynomials #polynomiallongdivision #algebra2
I just finished my exponents unit in Algebra 1. It was interesting to me that some students that struggle seemed to really excel in this unit. This is really the first unit that didn’t depend heavily on their ability to solve equations - maybe that was part of it. To begin, I made this page to remind students of the information they learned in pre-algebra. This page reviewed the expanding process. Also, it reminded them of the zero exponent rule and the negative exponent rule. Then, we…
Today I made a cheat sheet to give to our students tomorrow as we get ready for a polynomials quiz on Thursday and mid-year review next week. Really, the sheet is as much for me as it is for them:) It's a half-sheet so I papercut the sheet in half and hole punch for the kids to put in their binders. You can download it from the "Freebies!" section of the sidebar if your kids need a reminder too!
Solving rational equations is one of my favorite units in algebra 2. My high school students don't need a lot of help beyond these notes, because they've practiced factoring quite a bit. I use these pages in my interactive notebooks.
