King Leopold II statue (1926) @ Throne Square - Brussels - King Leopold II of the Belgians (reign 1865-1909) & founder & sole owner of Congo Free State (1885-1908). Leopold II used mercenary Force Publique for personal gain & extracted a fortune (from ivory & rubber), & killing an estimated 2-15 million people in the Congo. The statue has been vandalized four times (2008, 2018, 2019 & 2020). The majority in the Belgian Parliament want all statues of Leopold II removed.
