Colorful quilts modern

There was so much to take in as I walked through the quilts at QuiltCon, I did notice three things. 1) Curves 2) Hand-quilting 3)U pcycled materials.

Solid color quilts are often associated with a modern aesthetic, but (and maybe this is the age old question) do solids make a modern quilt, or are modern quilts often just made with solid fabric?

I just made this very cheerful baby quilt entirely out of random 2½” strips I had laying around… this is my Honeycomb Hexagon pattern.
