Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935) was a Portuguese Poet, Writer, Philosopher, Literary Critic & Publisher known as one of the most significant literary figures of the 20th Century + one of Portugal's greatest poets. Pessoa was a prolific writer, not only under his own name, for he created approximately 75 others, most notably: Alberto Caeiro, Álvaro de Campos & Ricardo Reis. He called them heteronyms (not pseudonyms) because he wanted to capture their true independent intellectual life.
