Frost giants, called isejotunen in their own language, were large giants that lived in caverns or castles in cold, mountainous environments. Almost always evil creatures, these giants stood 20' tall and weighed around 2800 lbs. They had white skin and either blue or dirty yellow hair. In combat, frost giants would hurl rocks and then close in with battleaxes. They were immune to cold, but particularly vulnerable to fire, and had low-light vision. Risenbäume, is a forest located in the northern regions, characterized by its giant trees, some of these trees are so large that instead of leaves they have clouds. The villages in the area have been built on the roots of the trees themselves, and in the center of the forest is the World Tree, also known as Yggdrassil, habitat of the world snake Jörmundgarden, and the root-eater Nidhogg. Let's start exploring this forest

This is the second piece I did for Eytans mentorship. The motif is a giant snake spirit called "Uktena" in the Native American origin stories. I imagine this being an entrance to an underground system in a bigger Cenote cave system. Thanks to Eytan for the great paintovers and feedback while developing this piece. Thanks also to John Sweeney for some additional feedback.
