Aphrodite of Melos (Venus de Milo)
Aphrodite of Melos is a Greek sculpture of the goddess Aphrodite made during the Hellenistic Age of Greece. Produced by Alexandros of Antioch around 150-100 BCE, the marble sculpture seeks to give Venus a resemblance of flesh while illustrating her voluptuous charms. The piece is a good example of how Greek sculptors during the Hellenistic Age began to produce more naturalistic and illusionistic pieces compared to the more rational pieces of the Classical Age.
