The Northern Strategy of the war was to blockade southern ports to cut off supplies from Europe, to break the confederacy in two at the mississippi river, destroy the transportation and communication systems making it crippled enough to attack the capital, Richmond. The Confederate plan was to fight a defensive war and tire out the north by using supplies from Europe. I choose this map because it maps out the plans of each side to fight the war.
