First turn off the power to the outlet Next flip the outlet cover around and add toothpaste to the to the corners Take a thick drill bit and punch holes where the toothpaste is. Then use your jigsaw to cut a rectangle for the outlet. Add an outlet extender and put the cover back on. Finally turn the power back on!! I’m frequently asked to share how I cover the switch plates and outlet receptacle covers when I wallpaper. Spray adhesive! I coat the plate generously and then put it back in place (without the screws). Then I place the wallpaper over it, lining it up with the pattern. Smooth it to the plate, flip it over, and cut out the holes for the toggles with a razor. After all the hard work and expense of wallpapering the room, don’t skip this last step!
