Japanese battleships

Yamato (大和) was the lead ship of her class of battleships built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). Pride of the Japanese Navy sinking and still under attack.

1. Yamato battleship was Japan's most powerful WWII warship, equipped with 460mm guns and heavy armor, but was sunk on its mission to Okinawa. 2. Japanese submarines served in attack, transport, and recon roles. Unique subs like the I-400 could even carry aircraft. 3. The Akagi carrier led the Pearl Harbor attack but was later sunk at Midway, dealing a major blow to Japan's naval strength.

Yamato, named after the ancient Japanese Yamato Province, was the lead ship of the Yamato class of battleships that served with the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. On 7 April 1945 she was sunk by American carrier-based bombers and torpedo bombers with the loss of most of her crew.
