an article about editor's letter is shown in the bottom left corner of this page

This letter is very minimal, having only black and white. The use of black and white can help define a personality and add a strong contrast to the page. The picture of the editor embedded within the body of text helps the reader to relate her to the content seen in the magazine. There is a large amount of free space available on the page which helps to create an open and clean environment.

The Indian beauty covers Nylon Magazine this April for their Anniversary Issue. This is the second 2012 cover for Pinto who is also Esquire UK's April cover girl. I was honored to be asked to do a hand lettering piece for the debut issue of Wayfare Magazine - a beautiful new publication "celebrating the art of the journey." The photos & layouts in here are amazing & inspiring - like a little vacation for the eyes & for me, a reminder to go see & explore. We're thinking of taking a trip - toddler & newborn in tow - sometime soon. Hard not to feel the urge to get out, to get away, to see something new (and preferably in the sunshine) when January in NYC…

a man in a suit and tie is holding his hand on his hip while standing next to a fence

The text in this page is off centered, but is balanced through the placement of the editors picture. The drop cap is very formal but provides a personality statement in the opening of his letter. There is consistent use of orange in the date, the opening sentence and his name, this color unites these elements. This layout has lots of space left, as the paragraph could start level with the picture, or continue to the align with the far right of the picture.
