Lung cancer surgery can involve removing a portion of the lung or the entire lung. An operation to remove the lung cancer and a small portion of healthy tissue is called a wedge resection. Removing a larger area of the lung is called segmental resection. Surgery to remove one of the lung's five lobes is called lobectomy. Removing an entire lung is called pneumonectomy.
Types Of Surgery
If you have thyroid nodules, we may recommend a thyroid lobectomy. This surgery can remove one of your two thyroid lobes, leaving the other intact. Doctors may perform this type of surgery if there are nodules on your thyroid that cause symptoms or could be cancerous.💉 A thyroid lobectomy is an outpatient procedure typically lasts 2 to 3 hours. You may experience some pain after the surgery, but it is typically mild and manageable with medication. 💯
Neurology
Epilepsy In 2003 I had Temporal Lobectomy Surgery, in attempt to stop seizures and therefore increase opportunities in life unfortunately that was not the result. The surgery was quite an experience other than craniotomy (opening skull and closing) I was awake during entire surgery. So doctors could talk to me, test some of the areas as test before surgery in attempt to help surgeon decide what areas are safe to remove. Hardest part of having surgery was recovery there was no guidance.
