Although I am not entirely sold on religious icons I was struck by the dramatic lighting on this statue of the Madonna and Child, in the parish church, St Mary's, in Hay on Wye. St. Mary's Church, of C12th origin, was almost entirely rebuilt by Humphrey Allen in 1833 and further expanded in 1866-67.
