Marilyn: Beyond the Myth on Instagram: "Marilyn Monroe’s famous “wiggle” went against everything a model was ever trained to do.Emmeline Snively said it was due to being “double-jointed at the knees” — a condition that, in fact, does not exist.

“She’s double-jointed in the knees, so she can’t relax and that is why her hips seem to sway. She couldn’t stand with a relaxed knee like most models, because her knees would lock in a stiff-legged position. Her walk is a result of that locking action… This she turned into an asset.“

Snively also commented in 1956 that she tried to “correct that awful walk” but she couldn’t. And I’m bet many are glad!

It’s also been suggested Marilyn would file down one of her heels but none of her shoes have ever shown evidence of this
